Welcome to the blog
In a time where a perfectly curated Instagram feed often hides the reality of a persons life, I wanted to create a space where I could speak more in depth about topics that interest me, alongside the different facets of my life and working practice. It can often be forgotten that there’s a real person behind the art and hopefully this space grows to be a place where I can explore and share that further.

A little about me
I’m a 33 year old professional artist and studio owner in Leicestershire. I’ve always loved art and working alongside others, so tattooing was a natural step in following my passions. I first picked up a tattoo machine as an apprentice 10 years ago and haven’t put it down since! After recently reaching a milestone of working in the tattoo industry for a decade, I’m now finding the time to explore other creative interests alongside my everyday work, including; photography, textiles, jewellery making and of course, writing.
Major inflences to my work, home and personal style come from aspects of both history and fantasy, and an array of odd things that fall in between! I’m incredibly fascinated by anything and everything Victorian, with their bizarre and beautiful mourning practices in particular, collecting vintage anatomical and botanical books and artwork and scouring charity shops and second hand markets for the next vintage piece to add to my wardrobe.

My working practice
I’ve owned and worked in my own tattoo studio, Bloom and Gloom, since opening in May 2019, after a lengthly refurb we started after taking on the property in October 2018. Being a business owner is something I’ve always dreamed of and to have created a physical space which I love coming to work in everyday is a huge achievement for me. At times, as an artist in particular, it’s hard not to beat yourself up about things and although being a business owner can sometimes feel stressful and impossibly hard, I’m always reminded of how fortunate I am and am so grateful and appreciative of my clients and colleagues for making it all worth while.

Into the future
In future years I hope to really hone in on my creative passions and skills and grow them into something wonderful. For now, I’m not entirely sure what that will be but I’m excited for the adventure and so pleased to have you along for the journey.
